Shanghai's Natural Wine Underground (2026)
Vinism, Just Grapes, PuR'aisin, and the state of natural wine in China's most cosmopolitan city.
Shanghai's natural wine scene is small, and 2026 has been a hard year for it: SOiF, the city's most dedicated natural wine bar, closed at the end of June. A handful of places are still building something genuinely new — a wine culture that doesn't look to Europe for permission.
Vinism opened in 2017 and was one of the city's natural wine pioneers. It has since changed hands, so ask what's pouring.
Just Grapes says natural on its own site, and PuR'aisin, a Yunnan restaurant and wine bar, is named among the city's natural wine venues in press coverage we link.
