Montréal's natural-wine bars, restaurants and bottle shops, listed from our evidence file with the proof for each and the date we checked. Updated automatically.

Montréal is where isitfunky started, and it's one of the cities we check most closely. This page lists the places we can prove pour natural wine, from the same evidence file as the Montréal guide, so the numbers and names below are current when you read them.

A bit of context helps. In Québec the SAQ, the provincial liquor board, runs the wine shops. It stocks some natural wine, but much of what you'll drink in Montréal's bars arrives through private-import agencies, which sell to restaurants and, usually by the case, to individuals. That's one reason the best place to drink it is a bar or restaurant, not a shelf. The legal drinking age in Québec is 18.

How we prove a place

A place counts only when there is evidence on file that it pours natural wine: its own website says so, its wine list names natural producers we recognise, a named publication calls it a natural-wine venue, or natural-wine importers list it as a stockist. Each one shows its reasons, its source and the date we last checked. Venues cannot pay to be listed or ranked. The stamps

How to read the list

Every place we list has proof on file that it pours natural wine: its own website says so, its wine list names natural producers we recognise, a named publication calls it a natural-wine venue, or natural-wine importers list it as a stockist. The Funk Score adds that proof up, point by point; it never counts ratings, reviews or payment. Each place shows its source and the date we last checked it. How the Funk Score works · The stamps

Lists change: wine lists turn over, bars close, new ones open. We re-check on a schedule and the dates show it. If something is wrong, write to hello@isitfunky.com and we'll look again.

Before you go

  • Check opening hours on the venue's own site or Instagram. Small natural-wine bars keep short, changeable hours.
  • If a place links a booking page, it's on its isitfunky page. Where there's none, walk-ins are usually the norm, but we can't promise it.
  • Not sure what to order? Name a direction rather than a grape: something light and chilled, a pét-nat, or skin contact. The glossary has the words.
  • Going to several places? The crawl planner builds a walkable route between proven places in Montréal, and the map shows them all.
