Is it funky?

The Global Natural Wine Underground

A culture documentary about fermentation and rebellion.

Octagono vineyard
02Premise
FUNKY is a global documentary series exploring a new generation of winemakers, chefs, artists, and cultural outsiders rebuilding wine culture from the ground up. This is not a wine show. It is a cultural documentary about fermentation, land, food, community, and rebellion against industrial culture.
Premise
03Why Now
A major cultural shift is underway. Younger audiences are moving away from industrial wine, rigid status signals, and polished brand narratives.
  • -Authenticity over prestige
  • -Process over polish
  • -Community over hierarchy
  • -Culture over consumption

In a world becoming increasingly synthetic, fermentation is becoming a form of cultural resistance.

04Narrative Lens
The central tension is not wine versus wine. It is outsiders versus institutions. The series frames natural wine the way earlier documentaries framed underground chefs, early independent fashion scenes, and creative subcultures before institutional adoption. This is a story about how new culture forms.
